Orientation Schedule
Several Transfer and Freshman Orientation dates are scheduled from May through August for fall admission and through December and January for the spring.
Course Registration
Orientation is required prior to course registration. A registration hold (ORT) is on each student’s CUNYfirst account preventing course registration prior to orientation.
Course schedules for first-year students are created in advance. First-year students will view their schedule on the day of their Orientation.
Transfer student begin registering on their own during their orientation program. Transfer students should continue to work on their schedules on their own through the enrollment period.

When will I receive my Orientation date?
In order to receive your assigned orientation date, you must have completed the following:
- Accepted your offer of admission on CUNYfirst
- Paid your commitment deposit on CUNYfirst
- Completed any necessary placement exams.
- Newly admitted students may be exempt from the placement exams based on previously completed coursework.
We want to make sure everything is in order for you to attend Orientation. Therefore, it will take a few weeks after these steps are completed for you to receive your invitation to orientation.
All orientation emails are sent to your Baruch email address. Click here for instructions on how to set up your Baruch email.
We will begin sending out invitation emails in May for fall admission and in November for spring admission.
How can I reschedule my Orientation?
Students choose their own Orientation date, if you need to reschedule log into Navigate to choose a new date.
Where do I get my AP (Advanced Placement) scores?
- If you have completed the AP Examination you can request the College Board to send your results to code 2034.
- Please visit the College Board Score Reporting Services https://apscore.collegeboard.org/scores page for more information on score reporting services.
How do I submit my transcripts from another college?
Non-CUNY Transcripts
Transfer students are required to submit their official final transcript(s) to the Transfer Center. Contact the Transfer Center at New.Transfer@baruch.cuny.edu for instructions on how to submit electronic transcripts.
CUNY Transcripts
There is no need to submit CUNY transcripts. All CUNY transcripts will be obtained electronically through CUNYfirst.
Do I need to take any placement exams?
Only some students will have to take placement exams for math and English. Those who do have to take a placement exam will receive a testing ticket.
Visit the Office of Testing & Evaluation website for more information.
How do I pay my commitment deposit?
- Your deposit can be paid by credit card or echeck on your CUNYfirst Student Center. You will be prompted to pay your commitment deposit once you have accepted your offer.
- If you do not see a “Pay Commitment Deposit” button, this means your fee was waived.
How do I submit my response form?
You can check your application status and accept your offer on your CUNYfirst Student Center.
How can I receive my Baruch College ID card?
First-year students will receive their ID card during their Orientation Day. Come prepared for us to take your ID picture during Orientation check-in.
Transfer students should plan to visit the ID Center prior to the first day of classes to take their photo and receive their Baruch Student ID card. Visit the ID Center website for more information and hours of operation.
When will I find out about my transfer credits?
- As soon as your Transfer Response Form has been received, the process of evaluating your prior credits will begin. As long as all of your transcripts have been submitted on time, your Transfer Credit Evaluation will be completed by your Orientation date and will be available during your Advisement Session. Delays in submitting your transcript will result in a delay of your Transfer Credit Evaluation being completed
- If you have attended a CUNY school, we encourage you to take a look at CUNY’s online transfer credit evaluation site for information on what classes can transfer over to Baruch College.
Can I meet with an Academic Advisor?
Baruch students are not able to meet with Academic Advisors prior to attending Orientation.
Transfer Students: Meet with your advisor during Orientation. If you have more questions after the Orientation, visit us in the Baruch One Stop Shop.
First-Year Students: First year students will meet with an Advisor in a group setting during their in person orientation day. All questions and concerns about first year course scheduling and block programs should be directed to your advisor on your Orientation day. After Orientation, an advisor will visit your First Year Seminar class (FYS 1000) to review the curriculum and answer questions prior to registration for the following semester and Bearcat Peer Advisors are available throughout the year.
Transfer students are able to schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor on Navigate after the last day to add a course has passed. First-Year students will be able to schedule an appointment with a Bearcat Peer Advisor during their first year.
How can I request changes to my block schedule?
Questions or concerns about your block program should be addressed with your Advisor during your Orientation Advisement Session. After your Orientation day you can contact us at Orientation@baruch.cuny.edu. Be sure to include your full name and CUNYfirst EMPL ID number in your email.
Changes to the block programs are made to accommodate incoming college credit only.
