On-Campus Employment
International students are eligible for on-campus employment for a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session. Students may work full time during breaks and over the summer. Before beginning on-campus employment you must receive authorization from ISSC. Once you are offered a position, bring your offer letter to the ISSC for approval.
STEPS FOR ON-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION:
If you are an international student, before starting employment, please submit the following documents to ISSC OCE mailbox: OCE.ISSC@baruch.cuny.edu
- Offer letter
- ISSC Request Form
- Check the SSN box if you need to apply for a social security card.
- If enrolled below the full-time requirement:
- Due to an Academic Reason – submit an Academic Reduced Course Load form endorsed by your Academic Advisor
- Due to a Medical Reason – submit an Medical Reduced Course Load form along with medical documentation letter from a licensed Medical doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy,
Psychologist, or Clinical Psychologist.

To find an on-campus position, visit departments around the college to inquire about any openings. The computer labs also hire students throughout the year. Sometimes some departments advertise positions through the Starr Career Development Center’s on-line career management system, Starr Search.
You may also qualify to be a tutor in an academic field, depending on your grade point average (GPA).
Please note, you are authorized to work on campus and also choose to engage in Practical Training (OPT or Pre-OPT), per ICE regulations the total number of hours for OPT and on-campus employment combined can not exceed 20 hours while school is in session. You may work full time during school breaks.
